Ms. Melissa - Owner

Melissa received her teaching degree from Longwood College in 1997.  She taught middle school for four years and gifted and talented elementary children for over three years.  After her daughter, Mia, was born in 2005, Melissa stopped teaching.  It was during this time that Melissa decided that she wanted to open her own kid-friendly business that incorporated music and movement as well as fun play equipment for young children.  After her son, Brendon, was born in 2006, plans for this business really took shape.  MoBu Kids (formerly Monkey Business) opened its doors in January 2008, shortly aftern Brendon's first birthday!

Ms. Monica - Music & Movement, Art, Double the Fun, and  Ballet Teacher & Birthday Party Leader

Monica is currently working towards her psychology degree at George Mason University. She speaks Spanish fluently and has a deep understanding of French. As a child, she gained knowledge and experience in modern dance and jazz. In the past she was involved in many school musicals, plays, and recitals which helped her gain the confidence she has now. In addition to singing and dancing at MoBu Kids during her Music and Movement and Ballet classes and birthday parties, she also enjoys shopping, reading, and traveling. Working at MoBu Kids has opened new doors for Monica and she hopes to continue working with young children in the future.

Ms. Brooke - Music & Movement, Double the Fun, & Art Teacher

Brooke comes to MoBu Kids as a seasoned mother of two teenagers.  She doesn’t mind you asking her what joys await you!  Brooke has loved children since she was a child herself and once dreamed of having a dozen!  She came to her senses, and two was just plenty.  Brooke taught kindergarten through 2nd grade Sunday school at her church for 6 years.  She also had the pleasure of teaching music to the homeschooling group at her church for two years.   Brooke worked as a professional in the business world for 15 years, decided to home school for three years, and then sent her children back to school.  It is then that she decided to go back to work.  MoBu Kids has been the perfect fit!  She enjoys the interaction with little people, especially their look of wonder at the bubbles!  She loves to hear them giggle with astonishment at each new thing they learn or discover.  Brooke is full of energy and loves to dance and sing with all of her cute monkeys.
